‘Eight innings, two runs, 10 Ks’ Bauer’s life story, two wins in a month…”I got the bases loaded”
Former Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer (Yokohama DeNA BayStars) pitched his best game since arriving in Japan to pick up two wins.
Bauer started the home game against the Seibu Lions at Yokohama Stadium on 3 March, and after a shaky 1-2 record and 6.86 ERA in four games prior to the game, the former Cy Young Award winner threw a perfect game. He pitched eight innings of three-hit ball (two homers), three walks, 10 strikeouts, and two earned runs to pick up his second win of the season. His first win in 31 days since 3 March against the Hiroshima Toyokafe.먹튀검증
“My goal is to not give up a home run,” said the right-hander, who has allowed a home run every time he has taken the mound, but was unable to end his no-hitter. However, it was a far cry from his previous outing, and one that left fans eagerly anticipating his next outing. The Yokohama bats pounded out 10 hits to take the pressure off Bauer’s shoulders. Yokohama went on to beat Seibu 6-2.
“It wasn’t a convincing performance, but I got a lot of help from the batting line-up and it was crucial to get the wickets,” Bauer said after the game, as reported by Japanese sports outlet Nikkan Sports. “I didn’t realise I had 10 strikeouts, but I’ll try to get more in the future,” said Bauer, who recorded double-digit strikeouts for the first time in his Japanese debut.
“I’m not going to wait until a month to get to three wins,” he smiled, having added to his tally 31 days after his win against Hiroshima on the 3rd of last month. In closing, he thanked the fans for their “wonderful support.”
