‘Japan killers’ Lee So-hee and Paik Hana on verge of title… Seo Seung-jae and Kang Min-hyuk also defeat Japanese pair in final
Korean badminton team women’s doubles powerhouses Lee So-hee (29-Incheon International Airport) and Baek Ha-na (23-MG Sae-mae-geum) are back in action. The duo swept aside the Japanese group to reach the final and claim their second title of the season.
The women’s doubles quarter-final match during the Malaysia Masters 2023 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 27 July. World No. 6 Lee Sohee and Baek Ha Na defeated 10th-ranked Japan’s Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara 2-0 (21-19, 21-14).스포츠토토
The world number three and number one seeded pair of Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida of Japan had beaten them 2-0 (21-16, 21-17) in the quarter-finals the previous day. The Malaysia Masters is a World Badminton Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 500 Series event.
Lee So-hee and Baek Ha-na, who have been playing together since late last year, won the German Open in March. At the subsequent Korea Open, they reached the final, but had to settle for runners-up to Kim So-young (Incheon International Airport) and Gong Hee-yong (Jeonbuk Bank).
Lee So Hee and Baek Ha Na will face Malaysia’s Puli Tan-Tina Muralitharan, ranked 11th in the world, for the title.
In the men’s doubles, world No. 16 Seo Seung-jae (26-Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps)-Kang Min-hyuk (24-Samsung Life) defeated world No. 7 Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan 2-1 (21-18, 12-21, 21-16) to reach the final. Their opponents in the final will be Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong-Kai Un Tee, ranked 26th in the world.
