Korea Volleyball Association held the 78th National Volleyball Championships in Jecheon
The 78th National Volleyball Championship, hosted by the Korea Volleyball Association and sponsored by Jecheon City, will be held in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do for a week from the 1st to the 7th of next month.
The first event was held in Seoul in 1946, the year after liberation, and has been held every year except for 1950 when the Korean War broke out. As a volleyball tournament boasting the best history and tradition in Korea, it has played a role as a driving force in the development of volleyball in Korea.
A total of 103 teams will participate in this competition: 33 teams under the age of 13, 30 teams under the age of 16, 28 teams under the age of 19, 4 teams in the men’s general division, and 8 teams in the youth division for life sports. In addition, the winning team in the under-19 division will be given the right to participate in the 2023 Korea-China-Japan Junior Championships held in Japan for 7 days from August 23rd to 29th.
In particular, the opening ceremony, which has not been held for three years due to the influence of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19), will be held after a long time. On the 1st, it will start with a pre-ceremony performance at Jecheon Gymnasium.
In addition, Korean Air’s outside heater Jung Ji-seok, who won the combined championship in the V-League men’s division in the 2022-2023 season, supported a scholarship of 20 million won for youth volleyball dreams following last year, and Korean Air Lim Dong-hyuk also won 10 million won to improve the performance of participating teams. The Korean Volleyball Association is making every effort to prepare for the tournament with the organizers, the Jecheon City Sports Association and the Jecheon Volleyball Association, so that the volleyball championship can be successfully held in Jecheon, a dynamic and new economic city.
