KPGA Competition Committee, PGA Tour Sony Open Observation

The Korea Professional Golf Association (Chairman Koo Ja-cheol, hereinafter referred to as KPGA) Match Committee (Chairman Kwon Cheong-won) started to strengthen global competitiveness through participation in international conferences.

The KPGA Match Committee visited the Waialei Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii, where the PGA Tour Sony Open was held for 7 days from the 9th to the 15th.

After having a discussion with the PGA Tour Competition Committee about practice rounds and tournament operation, course inspection and setting, and golf rule judgment, three members of the competition committee, including Chairman Kwon Chung-won, and Director Lee Woo-jin, held a meeting from before the start of the Sony Open until the end of the day. “I was surprised by the state-of-the-art equipment and systematic system that the PGA Tour has,” said Kwon Chung-won, chairman of the competition committee. He also felt that meticulous course management and sufficient course creation time were necessary to hold the best tournament,” he said. “I was able to acquire various know-how. For the development of domestic tours, I hope that there will be more opportunities like this. The KPGA Match Committee will do everything in its power to help players demonstrate their competitiveness on a bigger stage.”
