South Korea fails to reach Davis Cup tennis quarterfinals…will face Spain on Sunday

South Korea’s men’s tennis team has been eliminated from the group stage of the Davis Cup Finals.

Serbia defeated Spain 3-0 in a Group C match at the 2023 Davis Cup Finals in Valencia, Spain, on Friday (Nov. 15), leaving Serbia and the Czech Republic (with two wins apiece) in first and second place in the group.먹튀검증

South Korea and Spain were eliminated with two losses apiece.

The Davis Cup Finals is the “World Cup of Tennis,” where the top 16 teams in the world compete in four groups, and South Korea has reached the top 16 for the second consecutive year.

This is the first time Korean men’s tennis has reached the Davis Cup round of 16 for two consecutive years.

If Spain had beaten Serbia on Sunday, the Koreans would have had a realistic hope of advancing to the quarterfinals if they won the Korea-Spain match on Sunday, but Serbia won and joined the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals.

Serbia’s No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who won the US Open last week, defeated Spain’s No. 25 Alejandro Davydovic Fokina 2-0 (6-3 6-4) at second singles.

Djokovic did not play in the match against South Korea on Dec. 12.

With the win, South Korea will need to qualify for the Finals again to return to the Davis Cup Finals in 2024.
